Th Ye'kwana tribe is known for their excellent baskets.
Upon completion, we would send the baskets out to buyers in town where the money would be used by the families to purchase supplies. The plane would come with supplies and leave with baskets. Sometimes the church would be given baskets as an offering and this money would be used for church ministries.
Now it is much more difficult as their are no longer any mission planes and all the baskets must be transported by water. Also, with the terrible economy in Venezuela, brought on by Chavez' socialism, there is not much of a market for the baskets in the national market and fewer foreign markets are interested in exporting from Venezuela.
