I was tagged by Deana in Spain to list 7 random things about myself.
Here goes!
1) I love sci-fi, especially Star Trek. I used to read the Star Trek novels over and over again, alas, they had to remain in the jungle upon our unplanned departure. We had a cousin who would video 'The Next Generation' series and send them out to the jungle for us. We would watch them using a battery powered TV/VCR. One night we were in a small tent and watched the video for 8 hours, until the 12 volt battery died!
2) I have to read something every night. When I go to bed, no matter how sleepy or exhausted, I must spend a few minutes with a book before I fall asleep. In the jungle, we all had small book battery lights to read by.
3) I must wear mascara and eyebrow powder EVERYDAY! No matter where I may be, or what else I must do without, these two items are not optional!!!
4)I prefer to read the Old Testament in Spanish and the New Testament in English! I have no idea why this is.
5) I can not stand repetitive noises! Pen clicking, finger drumming...AARRGGHH! My kids would do these things and bet each other on how long it would take for me to respond. ANNOYING!!!
6) I talk to myself ...a lot! But not as much as my daughter, Jackie! I think I started doing this when we were newly arrived in the jungle and trying to learn the language. I had no one else to talk to!
7)I fell in love with my husband at the age of 14!!! I am still in love with him. I mean the tingly, dizzy, warm and fuzzy kind of love!!! I feel sorry for people who seem bored in their marriage!

Oh hurrah for tagging! :D
We have two in common, I have to read every night and I have to wear mascara every day. Even when I have been hospitalized, I put on mascara. I think I have never been sick enough not to care :)
i love star trek too...and mascara is must every day...i guess like minds do think a like.

JM, I remember some time ago you did an enneagram test...mind telling me your number?Or is it a secret ?( that might indicate a 5)
I am a 9... so my greatest wish is unity and togetherness.I wear no makeup,am totally disinterested in the status quo or totems, am picky as all get out about music, write books in my mind while washing dishes, cannot wake up without coffee, love poetry,am a doting compulsive caretaker at times, long for the beach ,am ultra sensitive and can feel energies more than most people ,too famous for my signature soups( because I hate to cook), and the last but not least one that you might find funny...do not like politics. My delving is due to recent worries.
Keep up the great work
firepig, remind me never to try and keep anything form you! I came out as a 5!

Yeah, you need to get with it!! haha. I enjoyed reading through your random things, too! = ) BTW...I am working on getting that recipe you asked for. I haven't forgotten!
If you like STNG, get Metamorphosis if at all possible and give it a try.
I'm not current in the novels, but this was and still is my absolute favorite (what if) TNG book!
I wonder if Spanish is a more formal language for you even if it's just because you didn't grow up speaking it?...
Feeling like the THEES and THOUS are so much more meaningful and sort of 'old fashioned sounding' than the NIV? Maybe Spanish reminds you of the older and English the newer in general?
It made perfect sense to hear you say Spanish for the OT, English for the New...I'm guessing my hypothesis above is why?! Ya think!?
Reading the bible in French in Paris really helped my French....also, learning The Lord's Prayer in French helped me figure out some grammar I use today..if it fits the grammar of the prayer, I get it right! (or maybe the improvement IS answered prayer!!) LOL!
Z, You could be right. Spanish is a very romantic language and suitable to the ancient history. English is much more technical and doctrine comes from the New Testament.
I realized after living among a tribal people how much of the Old Testament became more understandable to me when seen through the tribal cultural filter.
I read....and talk... :-) but no makeup thanks!
I think I knew all this about you already! click, click, click, click,...
Star Trek? Yes! Mascara? Not so much. Only on special occasions. I have naturally long eyelashes.
