I didn't have a car in Vietnam, so no glove compartment, but I always took an extra roll in the pocket of my cassock. Palm fronds just didn't appeal to me.

I'm not a missionary but I remember driving through the countryside with my five children and I frequently had a roll of TP in my car. Better safe than sorry!

This made me think of my dear mother in law who always has a roll in her PURSE!! Yes, in her purse! Well she live in Mexico and travels around there alot, nuff said???
