More than you ever wanted to know!

I was tagged by geeeeeZ! to list 8 random facts about me.

1) I love sci-fi, especially Star Trek. I used to read the Star Trek novels over and over again. We had a cousin who would video 'The Next Generation' series and send them out to the jungle for us. We would watch them using a battery powered TV/VCR. One night we were in a small tent and watched the video for 8 hours, until the 12 volt battery died!

2) I have to read something every night. When I go to bed, no matter how sleepy or exhausted, I must spend a few minutes with a book before I fall asleep. In the jungle, we all had small book battery lights to read by.

3) I must wear mascara and eyebrow powder EVERYDAY! No matter where I may be, or what else I must do without, these two items are not optional!!!

4)I prefer to read the Old Testament in Spanish and the New Testament in English! I have no idea why this is.

5) I can not stand repetitive noises! Pen clicking, finger drumming...AARRGGHH! My kids would do these things and bet each other on how long it would take for me to respond. ANNOYING!!!

6) I talk to myself ...a lot! But not as much as my daughter, Jackie! I think I started doing this when we were newly arrived in the jungle and trying to learn the language. I had no one else to talk to!

7)I fell in love with my husband at the age of 14!!! I am still in love with him. I mean the tingly, dizzy, warm and fuzzy kind of love!!! I feel sorry for people who seem bored in their marriage!

8) I graduated from High School early and was a freshman in college at the age of 16.

So, consider yourself tagged! If you do this on your blog make sure to let us know!

re "Old Testament in Spanish and the New Testament in English" - suppose that could be because you learned spanish by a bunch of "rules", but you feel "free" when reading your native language? ;)

Hatless, perhaps, I really do not know why.

I like to read in bed too. It puts me to sleep in no time.
So does reading sitting in the den. What's up with that.
Never got into Star Trek.
I enjoyed reading these fun facts on you and your life.

#5 - I have a similar hatred for smacking noises when people eat. My kids love to smack their gum or whatever they're eating . . .to see how long it takes to get my attention. Never takes very long! LOL After we got here, I learned that Filipinos smack their lips while they're eating to show they are enjoying their food - it means you're a really good cook! Eek! I just have to do something distracting while we're eating with them! LOL

Joy, I have always enjoyed Star Trek, I think it is the exploration aspect, boldly going where no man has gone before and all that!

Jungle Mom said...

Pam, I guess you should!

MM, I'll be right over! I don't know, my kids just did it!

Susan, That would also bother me,lol! The indians showed their approval of a meal by loudly belching.

I didn't know you graduated from high school at 16!

These are kind of fun.

Holy Crap. Paraguay. I lived in Puerto Rico for three years. Thought that was exotic. We would lose water every time it rained. Ironic, right? Love your site. Love the title. Hate repetition, too. Sometimes don't know how I made it through the kids early years. You know, when everything the learn they drill into the whole being, over and over and over. See you again soon!

I don't do the mascara every day. Too much garden work for that. If I wore mascara it would run down my cheeks with the sweat. Ugh!

I also have to read something every night, but not in Spanish, and it's odd that you read the Old Testament in Spanish and the New one in English. I wonder why that is? If you ever figure it out please let us know.

Don't have time to do the tag, hon. Still swamped here.

I can't stand repetitive noises, either, and one son was constantly tapping or drumming or something all through his teens.

The Spanish "r" sound is very similar to what many English speakers use to imitate a motor.
Tell them to imagine they are accelerating a motorcycle. Have them REPEAT that sound to get comfortable.
