A Slight Set Back

I really want to post all the details about the wedding.

I want to do a post about Hezbollah and Chavez.

I want to share pictures from Lake Tahoe, including a video of our bear encounter.

But, I just returned form my doctor. Upon landing last night, I experienced excruciating pain in my right ear. And bleeding. I hoped it might go away, but although the pain became less acute, it remained. I am also dizzy and nauseated. I had slight bleeding all day.

I perforated my ear drum. I have a severe sinus infection and the beginnings of bronchitis.

Oh well... I am very thankful it happened on the return trip and not on the way to the wedding.

Dear me! Sounds like you could use some prayer, sinus infections are hideous.
May you recover swiftly and completely...first Beaker, now you...what's a mother to do?

I am the queen of sinus infections and after 3 sinus surgeries in the past 4 years am finally better, though I still get them occassionally.

Two things that really, really help turn things around are: 1)ZICAM nasal gel---it's magic and works to help me feel better within 12-18 hours. Pump it up into your nose and let the zinc be absorbed into your bloodstream. It helps bust the infection very quickly. 2) SIMPLY SALIENE in the dark blue cannister at the drugstore. It's the highest dose of saline allowed. There are no preservatives in this product and it's the best thing I've ever found. You can even spray it in your ears and on the back of your throat.

Try these two things---zinc and saliene--and give your body a big boost of healing.

Meanwhile, hope you get to feeling better soon.

I hope you feel better soon. I'd send you some chicken soup, but it would drive the computers wild.

okay - here's my remedy for the ear problem - go to the pharmacy and get you a tube of triple-biotic (aka: neosporin) PLUS pain reliever - put an amount on a q-tip about the size of a pea and gently put it as far down into your ear as possible without causing pain twice a day for 5-7 days - in between you may melt one-quarter aspirin in a tsp. warm water and insert it into your ear for pain. be sure to irrigate the ear later with warm water. once the pain subsides.

i've not had too many sinus infections since i left my last employment in a building that had masked asbestos - people need to be aware of this monster - it MUST be posted if there is asbestos in a building where you work.

salt water spray has been my greatest ally in the sinus infection department. that, and i've discovered "zicam" - use precisely according to directions or you'll dry out prematurely.

we've learned these remedies after having no med insurance. we've also used antibiotics we've found at livestock feed supplies - trust me, all the employees there swear by them. a hundred year supply of erythromycin will only cost you about five bucks!

Happy to hear that the bug infecting you at least used good timing and let you enjoy the wedding. Now that it has you in its clutches, I hope you get rid of it with good timing too, and that you get to enjoy the weekend. Ear infections and sinus infections can be a lasting pain, but my guess is that with all the well wishes and prayers you are sure to get - you will get well soon.

All the best,
Glenn B

I'm sorry you had that problem with your ear. You are probably exhausted from the wedding and didn't need that. But at least all went well. Your son has a beautiful wife.

You're in my prayers, Jungle Mom....I'm happy, too, that you got sick coming home and not on the way to that wonderful weddding, if you had to get sick at all.
