Things you should know NOT to do...

Never dare my children! They will die trying to do whatever you dare them, as long as it breaks no law (I think!) This would explain why my daughter, Jewel, auditoned for the college mascot, on a dare, and ended up winning the spot as "Screech the Eagle".

Also, never use the Guarani word,"Purete" with a Spanish speaking person who is not from Paraguay! Guarani is the second official language of Paraguay which means every one here understands and uses it. However, in Spanish,"Purete" is an insult and means "Insignifcant person", in other Spanish speaking countries. Using the term 'Purete' with non -Paraguayan people may cause you to find yourself in an awkward situation.
I know...

You might also want to know that unless you really want to see a 3 foot flame engulf your hand, you should avoid spraying cooking spray in a small pan while is is sitting upon a lit gas burner!

Just thought you should know!

I have a few ones like that, or at least things I, me and myself should have known not to do.

Tried to re-light a gas oven after it went out in the middle of baking precious pumpkin bread in Indonesia. BAD IDEA! It is filed under the heading: The Stupidist Thing I Ever Did. Then again:

... there was the time I mocked a drunk policeman with an audience in Uganda and almost ended up in a bush jail.

Lots of things I should have known NOT to do! Fortunately, I have survived so far...and to think I'm really not a dumb person, but I just play one sometimes.

Thanks for the advice! :) Since every word I try to pronounce in Guarani makes my mother-in-law laugh (my accent), hopefully I won't have to worry about Purete! Tell Jewel we're waiting to see pictures of her! And, man, glad you didn't get hurt with the Pam! I recently destroyed my second pan (in just a few months) by forgetting it was on the stove and burning it to smithereens!

I've done it with cooking spray and with lighter fluid for the BBQ. Ouch and man does burning hair smell bad.
