Totally Believable!

I just read this,

The combined weight of ants in the Brazilian Amazon is thought to be four times greater than the combined mass of all of the mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians there."

Did I ever tell you about the time I was bit by a '24' ant?

It is a large, black ant measuring a up to 2 inches or so. It not only bites with pincers but stings with its wasp like tail. It feels as if it tears skin away while biting and does cause slight bleeding. The toxin it injects with its stinger is like liquid fire and quickly causes the entire muscle area where bitten to burn for several hours, thus ,called the 24 ant, or sometimes , the bullet ant. It wont kill you, but for 24 hours you will wish it had!

I know this from personal experience as I have been bitten by one. Jewel has been bitten several times and Josh was bitten twice in one night.

So, did I ever tell you about the time I was bit by one?

No? And I never will either!

Why won't you tell us? Does it have to do with WHERE you were bitten????

This year I am a bug magnet and am getting bitten by something strange on a weekly basis.

This needs to stop!

I saw a documentary on this ant once. Some guy was actually wanting to be bit by one, just to document how it felt. Ouch!!

...and I thought it was only television adverts that carried "teasers"...

That sounds like an unpleasant experience. I've been bitten twice by copperheads, and it didn't hurt anything like that bad.

oh, now we're all wondering you know!

Oh Rita, you are such a tease! I'm thinking the same thing as Brenda - it might have something to do with WHERE you were bitten, LOL!

It has to do with 'where ' I was bitten. Both geographically and anatomically! And that's all I am saying!

That sounds horrible! Yuck!

When I was in Basic Training in Fort Benning, GA, we would pair up in buddy teams when we pulled security. We would get down on our bellies and look out into the woods over our rifles to make sure that no pretend enemies were coming in. Usually one of us would fall asleep and the other would wake him up if they saw a drill sergeant coming nearby.

I remember one time feeling like my hand was on fire only to wake up and have a few tiny red ants crawling on my hand biting me. If there had been a lot of them I might have been in trouble, but only a few did no harm.

I brushed them off and went back to sleep!

J Mom; you said: "It has to do with 'where ' I was bitten. Both geographically and anatomically! And that's all I am saying!"

Well, if I got bit south of the border, South of the Border by an over weight ant with an attitude, I wouldn't tell either. LOL

I suppose that's one advantage to living in a place where there's snow. We only get little peaceful ants . . . unless you uncover their eggs and the soldiers have to come and fight you off . . . as my son and a friend found out when they were around 7. But they had to find out a few times, since, like I said, the ants here are so peaceful. And little, did I mention little?
