Peace

This picture was taken from the porch of the hotel we stayed in one night during our recent trip. It was a great spot to enjoy the morning and spend time in prayer and meditation. You can even see my coffee! It was very peaceful and refreshing.

I will be in the hospital for at least three days and do not know if my husband will be able to update here  but know that 'no news is good news'.

I covet your prayers in these upcoming days for myself and also for my husband.

I'll see you later!

Mí Anhelo Hoy

A mirar a tí, Señor!
Y no mirar atras!

A caminar contigo, Señor!
Sin desmayar!

A postrar ante de tu altar, Señor!
Y no lamentar!

Solo a tí Señor,
Quiero amarte mas y mas!

We Are Home

Just a quick entry to let everybody know that we are home. Rita is resting well and recovering slowly in these first few days. I believe that she will be blogging again in no more than two days and I will again have to fight to pry the computer out of her hands. The Dr. was very pleased with the outcome of her surgery and believes that the healing process will be completed quickly. Thank you for your prayers. We both appreciate it very much.

I must admit that that first night after surgery was rough. JM kept waking me up and wouldn't let me sleep. So I woke up with a headache and a little sore from the fold up cot. But I am feeling a lot better now!!!!! prayer works!! I told Rita that we should change the marriage vows to "in sickness, surgery, recovery and in health!" Because I don't remember anything about bedpan patrol in my wedding vows!!!!! She is my girl and I am glad she is getting better. I also thank God that I was the one able to take care of her.

"Don't Try This At Home"- Update on Jungle Mom

Hi Ya'll!

This is Jungle Mom's sister, Pam, from "Midnight Musings". I spoke with Rita on the phone about an hour ago and she sounded well - considering! She gave me her password to Blogger so that I could leave this update for all her faithful readers and blog friends.

Due to the fact that she was under anesthesia for 8 hours yesterday, the Dr. feels Rita should stay one more night in the hospital. Of course, Rita said to thank you all for your prayers. She is in some pain, but the surgery was a success. She may give you more details later when she is able. For now, I will tell you bits and pieces. She is in a small, private clinic in the city where she lives. Her dear hubby Clint is with her and spent the night there on a roll-away bed. In fact, when I spoke with him, I thought he sounded just as groggy as Rita did! He jokingly told me she wouldn't let him get any rest last night! LOL When I asked Rita if she had anything she would like for me to tell you all on her blog, she said in a dry, groggy voice, "Yeah, tell them DON'T try this at home!" As you can tell, she still has her wit about her!

Surgery on Sunday

I wanted to let you all know that I will not be blogging for a few days. I will be having surgery on Sunday morning and request you prayers. I will spare you all the boring details, and the guys the embarrassment, and just say that I have some "female issues" that need to be taken care of.
I should be home on Monday and have no idea when I will be back to blogging. As soon as possible, I am sure!

Update On My Dad!

My Dad is sitting up and wants his hair to be combed less than 24 hours after having a triple by-pass performed on his heart! He is even refusing pain medication as he says he only is a little sore! Seeing my Dad looking this good, this quickly! WOOHOO!!! I feel like this...

Thank You Lord!!

Still Waiting!

They informed my family that Dad will be waiting until tomorrow for his surgery. I am beginning to think that First World medicine is a lot like the Third World's medicine! Thanks for all your prayers!

I am a little frustrated waiting, but I know God is in control.

Surgery

Last summer with my grand daughter, his great grand daughter, before they left for Paraguay

My Dad is having his double by pass surgery today at noon. I have not been able to speak directly with him, which is very hard. Please pray that all goes well and that he can recuperate quickly. Thank You!

UPDATE: We were all just able to speak with Dad this morning. He sounds like he is in good spirits.

Update On My Dad

From Pam;

Now moving onto Dad! He is stable and therefore was moved onto the regular floor this afternoon, so he is no longer in Cardiac Intensive Care. He is off the nitro drip and blood thinner IV as well. The room he is in will afford him to get much needed rest as he gears up for his surgery. The room is large with a full couch and recliner in it. As a matter of fact, they brought my mom pillows and blankets and she is staying there tonight. Dad got up for awhile and sat in the recliner. The best thing that happened to him to day is that my mom brought in his glasses and Bible!

The surgeon came in this afternoon and told him the by pass surgery will take place at 12:00 noon Monday. The two arteries which need to be replaced are from the original five which were replaced in 1999. The veins they used have just worn out. We had hoped that first by pass would have lasted longer than 8 years. At least this by pass surgery is being entered upon in a calm, informed manner. The one in '99 was an emergency surgery in the middle of the night!

Your kind comments are so warming to me and to my dad as well. I have been printing them out and taking them to the hospital to read to him. He and my mom were struck at how strangers from all over the world are lifting him up in prayer. Thank you all once again.

The Storms of Life

UPDATE: My son just called at 12:00 and says the surgeon has not yet arrived but that my Dad is more stable and they may wait until Monday for the surgery. He has not spoken directly to the surgeon so there seems to be some confusion.

Please uphold my Dad in prayer as he is having an emergency double bypass this evening. My mom, brother, and sister and her family as well as my son are all with him in Tampa. I am here in Venezuela and am feeling very lonely and useless as even my husband is not here. He is out of town and will not be back until Saturday.

Please pray for my father, Pastor Jack Riffe. He is in the hospital with heart problems. He had heart surgery 7 years ago and yesterday began to experience severe chest pains. I am waiting for more details.

Update: My sister has more information of his condition on her blog. He is going in this morning for more tests. I hope to know more then. Thank You ! For all the prayers.

Prayer, URGENT!!!

I need prayer for 4 different petitions. I can not share all the details.

One is a request I had mentioned before. It involves friends in a dangerous situation here in country.

The other involves a request for a certain permit. I still cant give details. We had expected the permit this week, but now a new "situation" arose and... not sure if it will go through.

My son's Venezuelan passport is about to expire. We have been trying to get it renewed since last June. It is becoming more and more difficult to get passports here.

Also, another BIG request involving yet another branch of the government. We are desperately awaiting word on this one and hopefully will know more tomorrow. I can't share much more than that.
