Journaling my Thoughts!

I am not sure if anyone else is interested in my comings and goings during these hectic days, but I want to try and journal my thoughts while they are fresh. I want to remember these bitter sweet days. I also hope that one day I can return to Venezuela and find it that way it used to be... a little laid back, lovely country full of kind people!!! So these are my thoughts and doings. I want to remember them forever!!

God Bless America!

I just realized we will be in The US for the fourth!!! COOL! I have only been stateside once in the last 20 years for the 4th of July!!!

A funny? sad? thing happened as we loaded up our suitcases and drove out of our drive way for the last time. The CD in the car was a compilation of patriotic songs we had been given after 9/11. My husband turned the key and the words to " God Bless the USA" came on. You know the first stanza??

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

My husband and I looked at each other and had tears!! We then sang along the entire song and I really meant them. Every word! They were not trite or meaningless to me!! They were true and heartfelt!! We sang to the top of our voices!!!

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I'm proud to be and American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,

next to you and defend her still today.

Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,

God bless the USA.

Hearing you say that almost made ME tear up! LOL But that is something we often take for granted...our freedom! It seems so small until someone takes it away.
I'm praying for your saftey! And I hope to see you all as soon as possible!

Oh, Lord, Rita... this post brought tears! I could actually see you two in the car singing that, even though I don't know what your husband looks like. That's amazing that wonderful song came on just at that time.

For some reason I thought you had already left Venezuela. I was waiting for you to post from the US. Well, guess you will be doing just that before you know it.

Welcome back to America for Independence Day! :)

That song is a favorite at Mike's America and I always include the audio as a background for my 4th of July post.

Here's the audio in case any of your readers have not heard it in a while:

Glad you are coming home for the 4th.

This song always brings tears to my eyes! Sometimes, a whole flood of them...but I can't even imagine the meaning they had for you guys! Maybe it's just God's way of comforting you. Be Safe!

Well, that'll just make going back to the States a little more fun. Have a happy Fourth!

I'm planning, with another American family here in town, to get all (or as many as we have phone numbers for) of the Americans in town together for a cookout on the Fourth. It's one of those little American things that I don't want my kids to lose.

I'm very interested in your thoughts and feelings right now. I am still praying for a safe return to the USA for you and your family. I cried right along with you. You are really living out that song. May God richly bless you. You have given up everything to serve the Lord.

Sadly, I don't think it will be too much longer and we won't be free either! I keep trying to picture myself in a country that isn't free...it's hard to do. I've been lucky to live 39yrs in a free country and I hope and pray it stays free, but whatever God sends I know He sends His grace along with it! You're in my prayers!

Well my dear Rita, soon you'll be far away, under different skies.
So many people will surely miss you and your beautiful family. Including me, of course.

I pray that you guys may come back someday, a day were my country will be peaceful and a better place.

"Let Jehovah keep watch
between me and you
when we are situated unseen
the one from the other."
Genesis 31:49

That was definitely a God moment when that song popped on at that moment. What a blessing. It makes me cry still, because it reminds me of all the days after 9/11 when it was played over and over - days when we were united again. What will it take to make us feel that way again? I hope not another terrorist attack.
