My Lil' Professor

That would be my son. He was born a wise old man, I think. He just had a deep comprehending look in his eyes early on. He always wanted to do everything for himself.

At seven months, he woke up, decided never to drink from a bottle again and went straight to the sippy cup. I cried! A few months later, he potty trained himself in one day with only one accident. I did not cry!

Before his first birthday, he surprised us by speaking understandable Spanish! The English had to wait until our first furlough to the states. But he went from pure Spanish to English in only a few weeks.

When my son was about 8 years old, I found him doodling in his school notebook. He had drawn a design for a magnetic generator! This child was in the jungle with no outside exposure and had come up with this on his own. I saved the drawing to prove it!

After reading the book 'Rocket Boys', someone sent us the video. I made the mistake of allowing him to watch it! He and his sister, Jewel, spent a few weeks gathering up supplies to build their own rocket! I had to put my foot down on that! We were in the jungle with no 911 service! My children were very disappointed with me and my lack of an adventurous spirit.

We allowed the children to read books in their hammocks at night with their flash lights. My son's favorite reading material was The World Book Encyclopedia which was conveniently in reach at a book shelf near his hammock.

When he started studying Greek with his father, Josh decided I needed to 'brush up' on my Greek and wrote all his tests answers, quizzes, and reports in Greek. (GROAN!)

Which brings us to the present... a few weeks ago, I heard something in my kitchen...hmmm. This has happened before! It is why we always say, "It's only funny until someone gets hurt! Then it's hilarious!"

I look into the kitchen, it's after mid -night mind you, I see a container of something vaguely resembling green pond scum. Two metal prongs protruding from the liquid are attached to some kind of voltage adapter. And my son...

And that is how I learned about hydrogen fusion cells.

Love it!!

Miss my boys inquisitiveness (however, when we are all together.....)

Let me say, though the youngest is here and have his sister's sense of reason to guide past some obstacles!!

Josh still likes the rabbit trails in life, doesn't he....there may be some total new question awaiting him.....plus. I see his obversations in life as he see others!!.... he makes life fun and interesting!!

Wonderful story!

Nice to meet you! Glad you like my blog. I will add you to the list of blogging missionaries; I have been needing to update it. You are Jackie's mom, right? "Faithful in the Few" is one of my regular reads. Such a sweet person. Though she does challenge me with her super organizational skills.

A relocation after 20 years! Amazing! So will you be close to Jackie and her beautiful family? We will be practically neighbors! I have always wanted to know Paraguay...

He is wonderfully gifted! It will be neat to see how the Lord uses that brain.

I hope you're saving your college fund now. The kids go through their college money really fast, there are so many things you didn't count on, seems like. Then mom and dad have to scrape up the difference!
