Most streets are a sort of cobble stone.
Only the major roads are paved.

In the evening the cows are collected.
I have no clue where they are taken for the night...

Thanks for sharing your photos of a place that I probably never get to go to. It is great to see how other people live and what their area may look like. Thanks again!!!
i'd be finding one of them in my freezer!
This is so strange! cows? this city lady would be afraid to walk down the street!
Cool~I love when people give us tours of their neighborhood, especially when one is in a different country.

Wow, what a great place to grow up. You can stay out till the cows come home!
In the first, enlarged picture, what are those V-shaped, finger-like things coming up out the ground, on the right side?
(this side of the fence)?
Have you seen anything like that before?
And what are those basket thingies on stilts, in front of three yards, too?
Thanks for sharing your backyard, jm. I could quite cheerfully live there, and it certainly looks warmer than it is down here.
Reminds me of a place i used to live in a long time ago. Gotta love the street maintenance crews. :)
Thanks for the vacation flier---home of friends!
Maybe the cows are milkd and then turned out daily for "greener pasture". Maybe one could come and be Jayde's pet (unless of course, you need meat!!)
Makes navigating the streets more interesting!
Gosh! You have such a nice house, I pictured it up on a mountain side surrounded by lush forest. Those pictures remind me of the barrio in Albuquerque, New Mexico when I was in college.
LMC,
The 'fingers' are part of their wall and made of cement. It seems they were unable to finish the wall which was to have been bricked in.
AND, the basket thingies are for placing our trash out for pick up. There are so many dogs on the street, this makes it harder for them to get into the trash.
hermit,
I love my house, but this country girl would Love, Love, Love the lush mountainside you described.. Remember, I have W. Va roots!
This made me sooo homesick! I'm an MK from Ecuador and your pictures are so much like home--right down to your street maintenence crew! LoL
That was fun! I'm looking forawrd to more posts to follow suit!
This reminded me of my early days in Mexico!
Add some 9 to 15 story buildings and lose the palm trees and you'll have where I live. We even see goats and cows, usually with a person who is caring for them, not out on their own!
I don't know if I'll ever be in Paraguay, so it is nice to see your photos. :-)
I'm pretty sure when I was lost in Luque I drove around your block twenty times!
