Sad. You would think someone would notice from Hollywood.
That is sort of the way BHO won his senate seat in ILL. Chicago politics are a full contact sport: dishonest, dishonorable, and effective. Too bad the entire country is having to suffer from its success.
No one from LA or the Upper East Side will notice. It doesn't affect them. They don't care. This is Venezuela's tragedy.
But it was forewarned. From the day 17 years ago when Chavez & Co tried to end the thirty-year daydream that was constitutional, democratic rule in Venezuela's centuries as a plantation for military sttrongmen, this was written on the walls.
But people said it would never happen, it couldn't ever come to this, whistling past the graveyard.
Let Venezuela's tragedy at least serve as a reminder that the social contract, civility, the rule of law are fragile things and it is up to us ensure that they aren't demolished chip by chip by chip.
Given the nature Of Jungle Mom's calling, and by way of Flannery O'Connor:
Matthew 11:12: "From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away." I hope that I see the day that Rosales is back in a free Zulia, and Chavez is in the jail cell he should never have been pardoned from by a self-serving cowardly cretinous fool like Rafael (spit) Caldera.
But after all, he is DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED! Repeat after me: DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED! And he is rooting out corruption, just like he said back in 1998! (Ignoring that of his own side, of course.)
And yes 101, anyone who had devoted some thought to what sort of leader a failed golpista would be, can only be saddened, but not surprised, at what has occurred the last decade in Venezuela.
When you look at the list of failed golpistas who later assumed power, such as Thugo, Hitler, and Fidel, one can but conclude that any government that fails to execute failed golpistas is grossly negligent, and will pay the price for such negligence. As so often they have.
As was said in another context, it can happen here. Perhaps one difference between a "liberal" and a "conservative" is that the "liberal" considers our system to be indestructible, and that all changes THEY put to it will improve it. By contrast, a "conservative" realizes that the cost of liberty is eternal vigilance. I grew up with too many refugees from Hitler or the Iron Curtain to believe that it is impossible for change to be for the worse.Their having fled to the US was evidence enough that things can easily change for the worse.
You notice the PSF have been mighty silent the last two months. Perhaps some of them are coming to the belated conclusion that the enemy of my enemy is not necessarily someone whom I would like to be governing me.
Because Thugo is systematically destroying any alternative to his rule, the end will be not be pretty. Yugoslavia came to an end, and so will Hugoslavia. Unfortunately by analogy, the end of Yugoslavia was not a peaceful one. And we know who has the guns.

Vandals have seized Venezuela.
