The Things I See...

We purchase milk in one liter plastic bags which are called, sachets, This morning my husband arranged three of the milks in a cake pan and informed us he had made a Torta Tres Leches, one of our favorite cakes.

GROAN~ I know, this is his Three Milk Cake.

And you exercised great self-control in not throwing one of the liters of milk at him. :)

Here in Panama at the supermarket I walked passed the section displaying cake mix. They had a supply of liter size tres leche milk. The price was $4.19. If I recall at one time they had some Betty Crocker Tres Leche cake mix.

Here it is common to have ultra pasteurized milk which can be stored on the store shelve for several months. A liter is $1.05.

Is that milk the non-refrigeration kind? We used to get it in "pyramid" form.

Yes, it is non-refrigerated. I have some with my canned goods. It expires in September 2011. We also have regular Grade A or B fresh refrigerated. I made an error in my post. It is 946 ml or 1/4 of a gallon or one quart.

I confess, I'm lost. I thought sachets were those little bags you girls put good smelling stuff in and then put it in your chest of drawers to keep your girlie things smelling ....well, .....girlie.

Happy New Year JM to you and the gyrene!
