What we've been doing ...

Jayde and I were afflicted with a bad bug and have been ill for about 24 hours. We are finally feeling a bit more human. Jewel made us a homemade chicken soup and we were both able to keep it down.

Here is what we have accomplished so far towards getting settled.

Changed money
Bought groceries
Bought Cell phones
Tried to get the internet upgraded to a faster service
Fixed the digital lock to read our fingerprints (no keys!)
Bought and installed a water filter
Arranged for garbage pick
Made appointment to see a car for purchase
Opened an account for changing money
Figured out how to run the washer :)
Got sick!
Bought medicine at the pharmacy

Oh! And the electricity went out so we knew we were back in South America!

"Oh! And the electricity went out so we knew we were back in South America!"

Did you get that "glad to be home" feeling?

sorry to hear you got ill---hope you are better!!!

You are still one busy lady--getting set up in a new country with all the idiosyncrasies of the region!!

Do your cells work??

Glad your fingerprints get you somewhere where you experience freedom and joy!!

How far away are the daughter and kids and of course, SIL??

(was the medicine description written in Portugese ?)

Blessings as this journey progresses!!

Got sick, hmmmm! If you were in Mexico I would say it was Montezuma's Revenge, but since you are not, then that can't be it.

Jewel certainly knows her medicine, 'cause they say chicken soup is a real cure all.

I like the idea of the digital locks.

Sounds like you are going to have a real adventure.

God Bless.

Wow, this bug is worldwide! Our VBS staff was decimated by a flu bug last week, and I got it for 3 days, though I wasn't working at VBS. It has gone through our church like a plague!

What are you doing in your FREE TIME! ???
SO glad you're both feeling better..

Ojala que 'se' mejore pronto.

I know it's the wrong grammar, but you get the picture. Would it be "que TE mejore"..or?? For SOME reason, that's about the only sentence I remember from high school Spanish!

Can't wait to hear more about your adventures, JM......xxx prayers going to you!

Are you sure you're in South America? That last one sounded like you were in Lebanon! We spend about half our day on generator. Is power that sporadic there too so you need to be hooked up to one?

For someone who is feeling ill I think you got quite a lot done! Fingerprint locks? Now that is modern technology if I ever heard it. Who says Paraguay is a backward county. Hope you get feeling better and better.

G-d Bless

Feeling sick and having to take care of all that must be tough. But you'd have to be tough to have made it this far, I figure.

I sure hope you are feeling well by now.
It must be awful to be sick in a place you are not familiar with and have so much to do.

Thank you for telling us about how it is there. It amazes me how much difference there can be when we all live on the same planet.
God Bless

How in the world do you do it? I have enough to handle with the tribulations life throws our way here at home.

Hoping for a speedy recovery to you & yours.

I wish I had your daughter here!! I have the most terrible cold and need desperately a hot chicken soup. I guess I'll have to fix it myself tomorrow...

Very happy for your son's new job and amazed at the digital keys! (y si se va la luz funcionan?, jejeje)

About the blackouts: I follow my mom's advise; always have had a gas stove, never electric! in case of a blackout I can always cook and have a candlelight dinner (lots of those recently, BTW)

I hope you are feeling better and yes, chicken soup does cure all. At least it won't hurt.

Rita Loca said...

Liz, get well soon! I wish I could send you some soup!
So good to hear from you, and sorry about all the blackouts...crazy huh?
