A Quick Note

We are on the road headed to Uruguay. We spent the night along the banks of the Parana River in a town called Encarnacion . Being fans of the  Nacho Libre movie, this name, ENCARNACION, makes us all break out in song. My husband wants to go to the WEELDERNESS. I am looking for the  LORDS CHEEEPS and Jayde is hoping her dad does not appear in STETCHY PANTS.

We are getting ready to make an early morning crossing over into Argentina, pray all goes well and we arrive in Uruguay safe and sound.

Did you know that to drive through Argentina one must have a white sheet in their trunk?  Just in case you come across a corpse and need to cover it. If you do not have one, you will get ticketed.

We almost needed to use our sheet yesterday. It involved a stolen vehicle, a high speed chase. a near collision,  and an armed confrontation at an intersection.  All this and we were still in Asuncion!  Always exciting to travel through Latin America. We were very close observers but we are fine!

Pray for us today as we travel and that we will  have an early arrival in Uruguay.

Yes Lord, keep them safe!!!

By the way, loved that movie and we love hearing my Mexican son-in-law quote the lines from it as well!

"Get that corn out of my face!"

Do Argentine traffic cops still have the reputation of stopping motorists, finding some penny-ante violation regarding what you should have been carrying in the car, and then solicit a bribe?

The only detail I recall from the arcane Argentine auto code was that all cars were supposed to carry fire extinguishers. I never bothered reading it in enough detail to find out about the white sheet regulation.

My old Argentine driver's license was a little libreta, about 2X3 inches and a 1/4" thick with a bunch of the regulations.

It had an auspicious beginning: Every car must have a driver.
After I read that, I decided I wasn't going to spend a lot of time reading the regulations.

Viva Los Luchadores!

I don't think I would like traveling where you are. I get nervous when the Highway Patrol puts up a road block to check papers.

We are mega Nacho fans, too, and sang "Encarnacioh-oh-oh-oh-on" the whole time we visited there, and making Nacho poses on every streetcorner. It's just gotta be the greatest movie of all time. I'll bet Ginger's family has so much fun with the quotes, too!

I didn't know that about the white sheet, though, so I'll be sure to make a note of that for future travels over the frontera. :) Enjoy your visit. Praying for you.
