In my post I mentioned that we had seen 24 ants. One reader seemed surprised that we had counted the ants. It gave me a little chuckle because the'24' ant is a type of ant. It is large and bites as well as stings. I know from experience that the sting will not kill you, but it will hurt so much that for 24 hours you will wish you were dead. Thus the name, '24' ant.
Here is a picture of the one we saw at Iguazu which is actually a little on the small side for a 24.
and never mind about where I was bitten....
A little further down the trail, we saw the 'Three Musketeers Falls'.
One of the falls before reaching the 'Garganta del Diablo' fall.

I hate bugs...
Wow, that's some view there. Les Stroud was talking about some kind of ant when he made his show in the Amazon. He said if it bit you, the sting felt like red hot pincers pinching you. I don't much care for ants at the best of times, but these sound like they are in need of a good dose of black flag.
Glad I didn't see any of those little buggers! UGH! (Did you really get a bite from one?!?!?)
Actually there were four Musketeers (counting D'Artagnan).
Nice picks.
Not so nice ants.
HTOITA
What an awe-inspiring place Iguazu is. No more need be said.
First there were 24 ants. Now there are zombie fire ants.
Kathy, I was bitten by one in Venezuela.
FJ, that is so incredible! freaky.
Great pictures! You look fabulous Rita.
Couldn't happen to a nicer critter, jm.
I still remember the side of our house in Caracas being covered with parasol ant trails...
I loved Iguazu! It was a highlight of my trip to Paraguay! The Fannings even took us up in a plane! It´s so vast. And then it was so fun hearing the Portugese in Brazil.
I didn´t see those ants though. good thing.
Was it your first time there?
Gorgeous falls, great looking musketeers, and one freakishly large ant. Yikes!
A side-benefit of all that travel eh. Thanks for sharing those JM.
Oh my goodness, I'm so excited to meet you. (I stand with Israel too, btw). Your blog is awesome. my daughter and I wanted to be missionaries, but my husband didn't want it. Allyson has planned for years to be one, but I have a feeling that dream might fall by the way side. Who knows where God will take her. I would give a million dollars to visit you, at least for a couple of weeks. I can't wait to read more about your life.
God bless you. It's very nice to meet you.
