Motherhood

Motherhood has taught me some important things...

Jackie, you taught me how to go without sleep! You taught me how to develop the skill of thinking ahead and being able to use the proverbial 'eyes in the back of my head'. But mostly, you taught me to think of someone else before myself.

Joshua, you taught me how to pray. All the nights and hours spent in the ER with you as you struggled to breathe...I learned to trust God and turn you over to Him.

Jewel, you taught me how to laugh! You taught me how to drink coffee as it was the only way I could possibly keep up with you! I will forever be grateful!

Jayde, you taught me to stop and listen to the music, to see the beauty in every thing around me...even termites! You taught us that even when we think our lives are complete, God can give us an unexpected blessing of great joy!

Becoming a mother taught me how much I owe to my own mother.
Thanks Mom for giving me life and a Christian home.

Today is bittersweet for us as it is also the 15th anniversary of my mother in law's death. This is a photo of her with her two sons, my husband is the adorable baby ! She was also a godly mother and raised two wonderful sons who became missionaries.

Oh Rita, I'm just a puddle of tears! This was a moving and thoughtful post. I just threw up some old photos from last years tea! Seeing your post makes me want to go back and redo mine but alas, it's too late! I must go to bed instead! Maybe next year I'll do a tear jerker! Happy Mother's day to one of the greatest mothers on earth, my little sis!

I always loved that pink and gray dress you're wearing in the first photo with Jackie. Then, in the last photo, Jewel is wearing that cute little red and white number I bought for her. I think it had little cherry buttons up the front.

I L.O.V.E. how I'm looking at you so adoringly in that last photo of us with mom. You can tell I was proud to be your big sister!

Like they say, "Wait until you have kids!" That is when you truly appreciate your parents.

You appreciate your parents and you appreciate your kids. A beneficent circle, indeed.

You've got a nice family, Jungle Mom. And they've got a good mother in you. I think fathers are important, but especially early in life, it's the mother who sets the stamp on a child. A kid without a mother, or with a bad one, hasn't got much chance in life.

What a beautiful Post Rita!

I've often said that having kids taught me how selfish I once once.

The sacrificial love of a mother....
now that's something.

HI Rita,

I finally found you! I knew that you had a blog, but I didn't know what it was. I read daily info on Ven. and your link came up. It was so good to "see you" again. I was at another site that had a sound track of Alma Llanera....sometimes it seems so long ago, and other times (like hearing a small plane overhead) I'm there again. We are all well. Walt is busy. AND STAYING OUT OF TROUBLE! Greetings to all. Happy Mother's Day! Jane
