Women of the Jungle

Just women, being women.

Raising children.

Laughing at a joke.

Riding the tractor to the airstrip.

Making baskets.

Bringing yucca from the garden.

Doing laundry.

Growing old.

Making cassava bread.

Missionary women too!

Bringing water from the river.

Bringing in the fire wood for cooking.

Visiting friends.

What a neat place to live! What neat memories. As much as I'd love to live stateside again, I don't know what I'd do if I found myself unable to travel to Lebanon.

They are just people and should never be considered as "specimens of primitive cultures" like the anthropologist love to say. They are just normal wonderful ordinary people who have a soul.

Wonderful post. We are all the same in so many ways. We just live in different places and do some things in different ways but we are still women who love our children, do the chores and take care of our families.

People are very much the same everywhere you go. You just have to stop running and get to know them.

Those folks live pretty near to the bone. I guess maybe they don't miss what they don't know of? They seem happy enough but their life looks pretty hard to me. Then again, I'm happy and if I were to go to some Hollywood Honcho's place at Malibu I'd probably find out I'm living a meager existence compared to them. It's all relative. Must be hard on you folks to live down there and have to do without, though.

Women share a sisterhood that transcends culture, race and many times, religion.
There is a commonality to our lives that we can smile and nod about...even if we don't speak the language!
BTW-Great show this afternoon! You were very informative and had a few eye openers to those who haven't read your blog.
We are in grave danger, do we have the intestinal fortitude in our "leadership" to do what must be done?

What beautiful children of the Lord---and they have you, a woman, their friend, to thank for sacrificing and bringing to them the Word of God and caring for them. To love amongst them, to pray with and for them, to help in medical emergencies, and to work alongside, be it gardening, making breaqd, weaving, or teaching OR worshipping!!

I know they feel blesses by knowing you, a true woman who seeks the heart of God!

I think missionaries to less tech. people have a better spin on reality of human nature. We see it as pastors but the "civilized" trappings mask things for a while.

It is just an opinion but I would think it would be easier to get to know someone who has to work closer to the elements for a living.

Thank you for the lovely pictures of my unmet family.
