Sicko

UPDATE! The lab results show that it is NOT dengue, just a bad viral infection. Thanks for your prayers as this means my recovery will be much faster. Still sick, but encouraged by this news.

I have been running high fevers, terrible head aches and joint pains for several days. Wednesday I broke out in a rash and my neck glands are very swollen. Lots of coughing. Yesterday I went to the doctors and he thinks it is dengue fever. I have had dengue before and I am not so sure if it is, as I felt even worse that time than I do now.

The lab work will be back sometime this morning, either way, I do have a severe viral infection with high cyclic fevers, and a splitting head ache. I am pretty much wiped out and coughing will not allow me to sleep. My eyes hurt too much to read or watch TV or be online for long.

I also am having asthma complications and he has me using the nebulizor and inhaler.

So, I spent my birthday yesterday in the doctors, and the lab, and my bed.

Last night I did get the best sleep I have had all week. I think the nebulization with the prescribed codeine cough syrup really helped . Sleep alone makes me feel so much better!

Whether it's Dengue or not, stay in bed and rest as much as possible. Rest is the best medicine. One of these days you'll feel better and wish you could stay in bed all day. LOL

Get the best rest you can! Sleep can work wonders. I know this because I went through some sleep deprivation when I had my baby in the hospital. I knew that all my baby needed to get better was some decent sleep! Here at my house I now unplug the phone and turn off the doorbell!

God bless and Happy birthday!

Man! I'm glad you don't have Dengue and I will pray you feel like your normal self soon! Well, you'll always remember your 22nd 22nd birthday! Glad you can sleep--what a relief! Hope you feel like reading soon too! I read that C.S. Lewis always said that he liked when he was sick, but not too sick to read, but just sick enough to stay home and stay in bed all day and read! Prayers and feel better soon!

firepig,
Yes, me too. I remember the water from the shower felt like it was high pressured and would leave bruises.Thats why I did not think I had dengue. I am sick, but still able to move on my own.
I had another high fever this afternoon which left me with more rash but I must say, my head ache is SOOOO much better.

I'm not sure if it helps you or not, but I have asthma also, and any time I get any type of cold or congestion I find that it helps to sleep and rest propped upright at a good angle, to keep the congestion from settling in the chest.

Prayers for a swift recovery and a wonderful postponed birthday celebration.

jm, I hope by now you're feeling a whole heap better, rest, fluids and that codeine cough medicine will make a huge difference.( I'm sure you know that already, but needed to feel I was of some use, being so far away!)
You'll certainly have to have a wee birthday celebration when you're back to your old self ;)

In the 1980s, Cuba suffered an outbreak of dengue. Dengue most likely came from Africa via the Cuban soldiers returning from their internationalist duty in the civil war in Angola. Fidel knew better, of course. The CIA had done it, he declared.

It couldn't have been dengue. You are not a CIA target. Though as a Dubya supporter, you might have been, considering the way many in the CIA have acted the last 6 years.
