Things that give me pause...

Have you ever been going about you day, minding your own business and then see something that just stops you in your tracks? It seems to happen to me a lot! But then, maybe I am just ADHD.

Sometimes when I am visiting blogs and getting ready to leave my comment, I read the words,
"Choose an identity" and my imagination is off and running...all the identities I could choose! Who should I be today? Wonder Woman? Nichole Kidman? Or maybe some historical figure like Joan of Arc? Then I figure that I am probably the only adult who gets distracted by such a thing. That gives me pause...

Every now and then, I will be reading the news and see our new President's full name, Barak Hussein Obama, and I must say, the 'Hussein' gets my attention! That gives me pause...

Then yesterday, I find out someone in the US is using our credit card. That really gave me pause...

And then when I read that the Gitmo detainees will be allowed to sue the US, well that gives me BIG pause...

BUT yesterday, we were driving downtown here in Asuncion, getting ready to park, when I see a naked man walking down the sidewalk towards me. That gave me pause... and made me stop and pray!!!!

What about you? Anything give you pause lately?

Oh my....a naked man huh??!! I would say that would give me pause!
I hope you can get the CC think straightened out. That's terrible.
I would have to say the thing that gives me pause is when I see someone being mistreated over and over. I just don't understand it.

Many things give me pause - you have mentioned one of the biggest ones for me as well - I have a really hard time with who our president is.

I know there are many things, but can't bring them forward to the front of my brain right now. When I was working at the university, often I would say, "It amazes me that . . . " One of the profs would say, "I'm amazed that you're amazed." One thing - it gives me pause that so many people pull out in front of me in traffic when I'm the only one coming down the street and all they have to do is wait a few seconds and we'd both be safer!

Oh to answer your post question
It gives me pause to hear how some "Christian" parents speak to their children! (i.e. tone of voice, looks, lack of listening)

Pam, that was probably me you heard today. We were in the health clinic waiting for TWO HOURS with my 2 and 1 year-olds. The nurses were basically telling us we were way too loud (um, after two hours, yeah...) and I got overly annoyed at my older children.

I wish I had taken it out on that stupid nurse instead LOL!

Continuing prayers here for your friends, and hope the credit card issue is sorted soon. And that they let you keep the bonus points just because. :]

(Hey, I'll pray it. Why not!?)

A lot of thing have given me pause recently.

The short memory of Americans and our eroding liberties are just a couple.

We are doing a marriage series in our church. I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard that the divorce rate amongst church people was about the same as no believers.

Marriage takes work. I am thankful for this refresher course

My husband's recent brush with death gave both of us pause. Seeing how Obama wants us to be a Socialist country gives me pause. I live in a socialist country. They may not be willing to admit that, but that they are. Socialism is about controlling the masses and oppressing them.

I see blogger ate my comment.

what I said was along the lines of this:

Did you offer him some sunscreen?

Things that give me pause..

when feeling sick I push away 3 kids who want to love on, climb on, sit on me.

when I look at my son who's been chattering to me for 5 min and realize I haven't heard a word he's said.

when I find myself wishing my second and skinniest child had eaten more ice cream.

what my oldest said about Easter...for that you'll have to stop by my place on Friday :-)
