My Sister's Story of my Shopping Trip!

From Midnight Musings,

After a little bit of down time and just laying around visiting, we headed to Super Wal-Mart. It was almost too much for Jungle Mom and Yekwana Man to handle! I wish you could have been there. JM was running around the produce and not picking up anything! Finally she decided on a bag of peeled and washed baby carrots. Then a bag of salad. Then she started getting in the groove! Since they had just arrived into town and Clint is flying out early Monday morning to pick up a van they purchased up in Tennessee from a friend, JM wanted enough food for the 2 days her hubby would be away. Well by the end of the first aisle, her buggy was half full! We teased her to slow down on her choices as she still had lots of aisles to look at. She would just stand in awe at all the meat on the shelves! We did find some packages of turkey wings which made her laugh as she picked them up and said, "I have seen these lately." It was so much fun shopping. Can you imagine all of us in there like a caravan on a Saturday!? It was so crowded and we were so rowdy and just a-laughing at every little thing. Let's see, there was Clint, Rita, Jewel, Jayde, John, Josh R, and myself all grocery shopping! What a hoot we had! I would have given anything to have had my digital camera with me!

Jungle Mom adds: Still waiting for internet at the house! Please keep reading! Dont give up on the Jungle Hut!!

When you read this, please know I will never give up on you. Your faith and sensible attitude about everything inspires me.

The Wal Mart frenzy sounded like a pleasant adventure, even for turkey wings.

Happy, Happy fourth of July. I love America too!!!

This sort of reminds me of when I was about 11yr old. We were very poor and ate mostly bean, rice, and tortillas. Back then, grocery stores use to put "fresh" food that they threw away in large garbage cans. We use to go to the store twice a week and get their thrown out produce. It was mostly loose lettuce, but we got a little fruit and veggies. One day a family came to visit us who were in the same denomination as we were. I guess they saw how poor we were and took us shopping for food. I remember being so excited about shopping and getting ketchup and sugar and chocolate! :o) I will never forget their kindness even though they probably don't even remember visiting us. God remembers too!

This blogging is definitely addictive, isn't it? Our computer was out of commission for two days for new RAM and I about went nuts.

I'm so glad you are safely home. I watched my SIL from England (which is definitely not a third world place) be totally overwhelmed in the cereal aisle one year when they were home. I feel that way myself with all the toothpaste choices. Ridiculous!!

Ah, that ex-pat culture shock in the grocery store. It's great, isn't it?

It's the little stuff that makes us really love the States, and it's good to get a reminder sometimes.

Happy Fourth.

Hehehe... Rita, I understand the feeling. It's overwhelming!!!
It's like too much information for your eyes and when it gets to your brain; you are already confused and cannot understand what is happening!!!! (wait till you shop for clothes, that's gotta be the worst: choices, choices...)

You'll get used to it, though
;-)

I'm so glad you guys are having a blast. Hurry with the internet conection! We miss your frequent posts!!!

This was a wonderful read, Rita. People who have lived here all there lives take all of this for granted. It's such a shame that they don't know how lucky they are.

God bless!

I can't see the comment I just left because it's being held in moderation, so I don't remember whether I said "people here" or "many people here". I meant to say the latter, because of course a lot of us do realize what we have. It's just a shame that so many don't.

I am so glad to know you are back in America safe and well. I am also looking forward to reading the things I always sense you are not saying!
